Professional Experience
An accomplished advocate with more than five decades of courtroom experience, Clayton Thomas Jr. handles a variety of litigation in both state and federal courts, including defending clients against general liability, products liability and toxic tort claims; representing municipalities in federal civil rights, Section 1983 and employment cases; and litigating marine cargo and personal injury (navigable waters) maritime claims.
Before joining WCM, Clayton was an equity partner at a national insurance law and insurance defense firm and the principal of his own law firm, where he litigated mass tort, products liability, admiralty and fiduciary claims.
In addition to his work on behalf of clients, Clayton regularly sits as judge pro tem for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, hearing and deciding smalls claims matters, and as an arbitrator for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. A member of the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel, he previously sat on the Executive Committee. He also serves on the Law Alumni Society Board of Managers for the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and volunteers as a judge of the Keedy Cup Moot Court competition.
Clayton is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
